Gezuar! (Happy New Year!)
New Year’s is a big day for the Albanians – people seem to celebrate the few days over this period like many of us would celebrate Christmas (in coming together as family, feasting and resting). For many of them, it’s also the only time in the year that they are on holiday. Everything shuts down for two days; most of the shops are closed and many people are off from work for a week. That means that we arrived in a quiet season, which was great because it gave us the opportunity to catch up with Carel and Alècia (who are pastoring the church here). They have shown us around the city, filled us in on what’s been happening with GraceLife Durrës, and we have enjoyed some good fellowship.
On the 1st of January we didn’t have any church service, but we got together as leaders to pray and hear from God. We had a wonderful time as we caught a glimpse of what God sees and desires for GraceLife Durrës and especially for our time here over the next month. We are super excited about what God is going to do through all of us while we (the Holesgroves) are here. The enemy has tried attacking us all in our health, but we’ve resisted, and it made us even more excited. We know that he is just scared of what is coming: a mighty wave of God’s love and power!
Today we are getting started with some prayer and planning as we look forward to our meetings, training and outreach activities starting up this week. Please keep us in prayer and believe with us for a great time of strengthening the church, leadership equipping and outreach. We’re trusting for many salvations, healings and miracles during our time here - but even if all we do is strengthen the church, it will be awesome! In strengthening the church we are helping secure an even greater impact for the gospel of grace for generations to come – hundreds of lives changed by the love of Jesus!
